California AB91 requires state and local agencies to collect and report demographic data on Middle Eastern and North African groups separately.
California AB91, also known as the Middle Eastern and North African Inclusion Act (MENA Inclusion Act), mandates that state and local agencies collect demographic data on major Middle Eastern and North African groups separately. This includes groups such as Afghan, Bahraini, Emirati, Iranian, Iraqi, Israeli, Jordanian, Kuwaiti, Lebanese, Omani, Palestinian, Qatari, Saudi Arabian, Syrian, Turkish, and Yemeni. The act requires agencies to include this data in demographic reports published after January 1, 2029, and to make the aggregated data available to the public.
