The California Safe Homes grant program is established to reduce local and statewide wildfire losses, improve insurability and resilience of vulnerable communities, and enable consumers to access insurance premium incentives. The program will be developed and administered by the department. The Sustainable Insurance Account is established within the Insurance Fund to support the program. The department will prioritize grants for roof replacement, creation of a noncombustible zone around structures, and communitywide mitigation projects.
