Authorized emergency vehicles in California.
California AB438 amends the Vehicle Code to specify the types of vehicles eligible for authorized emergency vehicle permits. These include vehicles used by marshals, deputy marshals, and police or sheriff's department personnel, as well as those used by public utilities, railroad police officers, fire departments, and hazardous materials response teams. The permits are issued by the California Highway Patrol Commissioner, contingent on the vehicle being used in emergency situations. Violation of regulations is a misdemeanor.
