California AB2078 amends Section 512 of the Labor Code to require employers to provide employees with a meal period of at least 30 minutes if they work more than five hours per day. If the total work period is no more than six hours, the meal period may be waived by mutual consent of both the employer and employee. For work periods exceeding 10 hours, a second meal period is required, which may also be waived under the same conditions.
