California AB1944 amends the Vehicle Code to establish axle weight limits for zero-emission and articulated transit buses. The curb weight on any one axle of a zero-emission transit bus procured between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2027, cannot exceed 25,000 pounds. For articulated transit buses, the limit is 23,000 pounds for those procured between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021. The curb weight for zero-emission transit buses procured after January 1, 2022, is capped at 22,000 pounds.
