California AB1932 creates the Community Response Initiative to Strengthen Emergency Systems Act 2.0, or the C.R.I.S.E.S. Act 2.0, to establish a grant pilot program. The State Department of Social Services will award grants to community-based organizations to create and strengthen community-based alternatives to law enforcement. These alternatives may include trauma-informed, culturally competent care, deescalation strategies, and harm reduction support.
