California AB1827 amends the Code of Civil Procedure to expand the jurisdiction of small claims courts. The bill allows small claims courts to handle actions for money recovery, enforcement of delinquent personal property taxes, and issuance of writs, provided the demand does not exceed $15,000. It also grants jurisdiction for confirming, correcting, or vacating fee arbitration awards between attorneys and clients, and for hearings after nonbinding arbitration of fee disputes.
