California AB1713 modifies the Education Code to allow public postsecondary institutions to accept an Individualized Education Program (IEP), an Individual Program Plan (IPP), or a 504 plan as verification of a student's disability. These plans, issued by local educational agencies or regional centers, can be used to substantiate a student's request for academic accommodations. Effective September 1, 2027, institutions cannot require students to obtain new diagnostic evaluations if their disability is already documented in these plans.
