California AB1578 mandates sexual harassment and anti-hate speech training for state and local officials.
California AB1578 requires local agencies to provide sexual harassment prevention training to their officials and employees. This includes at least two hours of training for supervisory employees and one hour for nonsupervisory employees. The training must cover federal and state laws, practical examples, and the effects of harassment. Beginning January 1, 2028, the training will also include anti-hate speech components. The Department of Human Resources will develop online courses for this training.
