California AB1499 amends Section 16000 of the Vehicle Code to require drivers involved in accidents causing over $1,000 in damage or bodily injury to report the incident within 10 days. Reports can be made personally or through an agent, broker, or legal representative using a form approved by the department. If no party reports the accident within a year, the department is not required to file a report, and driver’s license suspension requirements do not apply. The changes become effective January 1, 2017.
