California AB1114 allows emergency vehicles to be exempt from tolls if certain conditions are met.
California AB1114 amends the Vehicle Code to allow authorized emergency vehicles to be exempt from tolls on vehicular crossings, toll highways, or high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes. This exemption applies if the vehicle displays an exempt California license plate, is properly identified as an authorized emergency vehicle, and is responding to or returning from an urgent or emergency call. The driver must also determine that using the toll facility will improve response time.
