Elections: voter registration.

Vetoed9/27/26

California AB1116 allows voter registration via electronic affidavits with signature verification.

California AB1116 amends the Elections Code to allow qualified voters to register electronically using an affidavit on the Secretary of State's website. The bill mandates immediate verification of the applicant's California driver's license or state identification card number, date of birth, and last four digits of the social security number. It also requires the Secretary of State to obtain an electronic copy of the applicant's signature from their driver's license or state identification card or collect an electronic image of the signature.
