Draft Text

Arkansas SR8 would require digital asset mining businesses to pay fees for excessive electrical energy usage and implement oversight procedures.

Arkansas SR8 would amend the Arkansas Data Centers Act of 2023 to require digital asset mining businesses to pay fees to the Department of Energy and Environment for extraordinary electrical energy usage. The fees are based on the amount of electrical energy used in a calendar month. The proceeds from the fees would be split between the State Securities Department, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Department of Energy and Environment for oversight and monitoring purposes. The Department of Energy and Environment would also promulgate rules to implement this section.
