Introduced Text

Arizona SB1802 allows for sentence reductions for juveniles who have served over 25 years of their sentence.

Arizona SB1802 amends the state's sentencing laws to allow for sentence reductions for individuals who were under 18 years of age at the time of their offense and have served over 25 years of their sentence. The court must hold a resentencing hearing to determine if the defendant is a threat to public safety and, if not, reduce the sentence. Factors considered include the defendant's age, nature of the offense, compliance with facility rules, completion of educational or vocational programs, and other mitigating evidence.
