SB1514 amends Arizona law to clarify the conditions and duration for issuing permits to withdraw poor quality groundwater.

SB1514 amends section 45-516 of the Arizona Revised Statutes to specify that a permit for withdrawing poor quality groundwater can be issued if the groundwater has no other beneficial use. The director may issue such a permit for up to thirty-five years, based on the estimated life of the groundwater source. The permit can be terminated if the conditions for issuance no longer apply.
