HB2723

Arizona HB2723 regulates groundwater withdrawal from the Big Chino subbasin, requiring mitigation and reporting.

Arizona HB2723 amends groundwater withdrawal regulations in the Big Chino subbasin of the Verde River groundwater basin. It mandates cities or towns to obtain a certificate of adequate mitigation before withdrawing groundwater, ensuring no reduction in base flow or degradation of water quality. The bill sets limits on the amount of groundwater that can be withdrawn and transported to the Prescott active management area. It also requires annual reporting on groundwater withdrawal impacts, mitigation efforts, and water quality.
