HB2697

Expired opioid antagonists; use

Chamber Passed·3/4/26

Allows use of expired opioid antagonists in Arizona.

Arizona HB2697 amends state statutes to allow the use of expired opioid antagonists, defined as those with an expiration date less than five years from the date of use. Pharmacists, physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals can prescribe or dispense these expired opioid antagonists, including naloxone hydrochloride, to individuals at risk of opioid-related overdoses. The bill also provides immunity from professional liability and criminal prosecution for health professionals acting in good faith and without gross negligence, willful misconduct, or intentional wrongdoing.
