HB2271

Insurers covering firefighters; rate deviation

Chamber Passed·2/26/26

HB2271 allows insurers to file deviations from standard rates for firefighters and fire investigators in Arizona.

HB2271 amends Arizona law to allow insurers to file deviations from standard rates for firefighters and fire investigators. Insurers may file up to six uniform percentage deviations that decrease or increase rates, and one additional deviation specifically for firefighters and fire investigators. Insurers must provide actuarial support for deviations and notify the director of any disapprovals. The director may use independent contractor examiners to analyze deviation justifications. Insurers can also file a schedule rating plan to adjust rates.
