SB140

Fire Station Grant Program

Chamber Passed·3/4/26

Establishes a matching grant program for fire station construction and renovation in Alaska.

The bill establishes a matching grant program within the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development to fund fire station construction and renovation. Eligible applicants can apply for grants that cover more than 50 percent of the project costs. The fire station grant fund, consisting of appropriated money, is used for these grants and does not lapse, remaining available for expenditure in successive fiscal years. Each fiscal year, at least 50 percent of the fund's balance from the previous year must be used for matching grants.
