Allows owners of boats and vehicles to designate beneficiaries to receive title upon their death.
This bill allows owners of boats and vehicles in Alaska to designate beneficiaries to receive title upon their death through a "transfer on death title." The transfer is nontestamentary and takes effect without notice to the beneficiary or consideration. Owners can revoke or change the designated beneficiary at any time. The transfer does not affect the rights of the owner or beneficiary during the owner's life and does not create a legal interest in the beneficiary. The estate may enforce liability against the vehicle or boat to satisfy claims against the owner's estate.
