Alaska HB176, known as the Student Fee Transparency Act, requires the University of Alaska to notify all currently enrolled students via email at least 30 days before imposing a new fee or increasing an existing fee. The notice must specify the amount of the fee, the reason for the fee or increase, the purpose for which the revenue will be used, and whether the fee is permanent or temporary. Additionally, the University of Alaska must provide each student with a billing statement that itemizes the tuition and fees charged. This Act takes effect on July 1, 2027.
