Allows all municipalities to extend corporate limits by resolution and special election.
Alabama SB264 amends the Code of Alabama to allow any municipality, regardless of population, to extend its corporate limits through a resolution by the governing body and a special election. Previously, only municipalities with at least 25,000 inhabitants could do so. The bill becomes effective on June 1, 2026.
