SB240

Parole, remote inmate participation at parole hearings, authorized, conditions established

Final Passage·4/7/26

Alabama SB240 allows inmates to participate in parole hearings remotely via telephone, video conference, or other communication systems.

Alabama SB240 authorizes the Board of Pardons and Paroles to allow inmates to participate in parole hearings remotely. Inmates can attend via telephone, video conference, or other communication systems. Victims, their families, and others can choose whether to see or hear the inmate. If communication fails, the hearing is suspended until it is reestablished. The board limits access to authorized individuals who can also participate remotely.
