Alabama SB234 requires retailers of alcoholic beverages, tobacco or vape products, and consumable hemp products to use digital or card swipe technology to verify customer age at point of sale. This requirement applies after a violation for failing to verify age. Retailers can use a secure digital system on a customer's mobile device or a card swipe device that reads a driver's license. The act becomes effective on October 1, 2026.
