Int Text

Alabama SB140 requires juvenile courts to notify local education officials of certain delinquent acts by enrolled students.

Alabama SB140 amends existing law to mandate that juvenile courts notify local superintendents or private school principals when a student is charged with or adjudicated delinquent for committing certain criminal offenses. The notification must occur within seven days of the charge or adjudication. The bill expands the offenses for which notification is required to include any act that would be a crime if committed by an adult. The notice must include the offenses and the case disposition.
