Alabama HR45 congratulates the City of Florence and its Office of Planning and Community Development for winning the 2026 Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement Award for the Literacy Gardens project. This project, funded by $120,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and over $250,000 in private donations, created two outdoor learning spaces: the Children's Garden for ages birth to 10 and the Reading Garden for teens, adults, and seniors.
