Cutcliff began his career in law enforcement as a Hoover Police Explorer in 1988 and later served as a Jailer in the Hoover City Jail. He graduated from the University of Alabama Law Enforcement Academy in 1995 and has served as a Patrol Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, and Field Training Officer. He has been recognized multiple times for his service, including being named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2000.
