Alabama HJR237 encourages the Department of Transportation to name a bridge on U.S. Highway 45 in Marengo County the Fred Armstead, Sr. Memorial Bridge. Fred Armstead, Sr. was a prominent public servant, the first Black police officer in Demopolis, and the first Black Marengo County Commissioner for District 1. The bridge, which spans the B.N. Railroad between Sports Plex Road and Bell Grayson Road, will be named in recognition of his lifelong service and contributions to the community.
