This bill amends the duties of guardians ad litem in Alabama to include regular meetings with children and foster parents, ongoing investigations and review of court cases, review of relevant reports, and filing pleadings when appropriate. Guardians ad litem must explain court proceedings to children in understandable terms and advocate for appropriate services. The bill also allows guardians ad litem to be appointed for multiple children of the same parent or for both a minor parent and the child.
