Expands types of water boards that Department of Examiners of Public Accounts may audit.
The bill amends the Code of Alabama to allow the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts to audit certain nonprofit corporations providing water service to members or the public. This includes entities not incorporated under Title 11, in addition to those already subject to audit. The audits can occur once after June 14, 2023, and the department may charge a reasonable fee. The bill does not affect public water supply systems owned or operated by municipalities or counties.
