Alabama HB420 amends the Code of Alabama to increase the penalty for discharging a firearm into an occupied school bus or school building from a Class B felony to a Class A felony. The bill also specifies that discharging a firearm into an unoccupied school bus or building is a Class C felony. Additionally, it prohibits shooting or discharging a firearm on school property during school hours or activities, which is a Class B felony, and otherwise a Class C felony. Exemptions include organized competitions, school-sanctioned events, and performances by groups under U.S.C.
