Alabama HB338 provides a four percent cost-of-living benefit increase for certain state and local retirees and beneficiaries of the Employees' Retirement System, effective October 1, 2026. This increase applies to retirees who retired before October 1, 2025, and are receiving or entitled to receive a monthly allowance from the Employees' Retirement System. The increase is not less than fifteen dollars ($15) per month. Employers may elect to fund this increase, and beneficiaries of deceased members or retirees also qualify if the employer elects to fund the increase.
