Alabama HB311 modifies existing law to permit sheriffs who qualify independently for both a supernumerary sheriff program and the Employees' Retirement System based on separate years of service to participate in both programs. Previously, sheriffs were not authorized to participate in both programs. The act becomes effective on October 1, 2026.
