Complete·4/17/26

Alabama HB307 provides hiring and promotion preferences for military spouses in state and private employment.

Alabama HB307 amends state law to grant additional points on employment ratings to spouses of active duty service members for state positions. The bill also allows political subdivisions and private employers to offer hiring and promotion preferences to eligible veterans, their spouses, and spouses of active duty service members. The surviving spouse of a deceased eligible veteran is also eligible for these preferences. Private employers must notify the Alabama Department of Workforce of their veterans' preference policies, which are not considered violations of state or local laws.
