Extends the validity period of motor vehicle license plates in Alabama from five to eight years.
This bill amends the Code of Alabama to extend the minimum validity period of motor vehicle license plate designs from five years to eight years. The Commissioner of Revenue, with approval from the License Plates Legislative Oversight Committee, may authorize a license plate design to be valid for more than eight years. The bill also includes provisions for the reissuance of distinctive license plates and the release of personal information by the Department of Revenue to sponsoring organizations. The changes will take effect on October 1, 2025.
