This bill amends the Code of Alabama to make the quarterly assessment on emergency medical transport providers permanent. The assessment, which is in addition to any other amounts payable, is calculated based on the number of emergency medical transports and is used to provide additional Medicaid enhancement payments for maintenance and expansion of emergency medical transport services. The assessment rate is set at a maximum of 5.3 percent and can be adjusted each quarter to reduce surplus assessments.
