Billionaires and corporations can pour unlimited money into our elections through super PACs. Those donations are huge, and they shape who runs, who wins, and who gets heard. They also create the threat of corruption, and the appearance of it, because donors can buy influence over the very people who write our laws. Candidates can even steer massive contributions to these groups, which can make or break a campaign. Ordinary voters cannot compete with that. A teacher's small donation disappears beside a billionaire's check. Super PACs hand the wealthiest interests a backdoor to power, and everyone else is left outside. The fix is direct: a hard annual cap on what any one person or company can give to a super PAC. Set the cap low enough and the unlimited money machine stops working. Elections should belong to voters, not to whoever can write the biggest check. Cap contributions to super PACs at a small annual limit and end their power over our elections.
