Our water, our wildlife, and our historic places are protected by laws that took generations to win. Now Congress is being pushed to dismantle them in one sweep. The bill would weaken the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the nation's core environmental review law. It would limit the power of courts to stop illegal projects and shrink the time the public has to sue. Who wins? Polluters and extraction companies, who gain legal advantages no future Congress could easily undo. Who pays? Families who drink the water, breathe the air, and live beside the projects. Permitting delays are a problem worth solving, but the answer is to fund the agencies and hire the experts, not to lock the courthouse door. Protections that safeguard communities should not be traded away for speed that mostly benefits the biggest polluters. Reject any bill that dismantles our environmental laws and strips the public's right to challenge illegal projects in court.
