Heat kills more American workers than any other weather hazard, and the deaths are almost boringly preventable: water, shade, a rest break, and a few days to acclimate before a new hire spends August on a roof. OSHA has spent years building exactly that standard. Congress is now being asked to block it before it takes effect. That is a vote to keep the current rule, which is no rule, which is why a warehouse can legally hit a hundred degrees and a farmworker's death gets written up as bad luck. No business model should depend on a person not being allowed to stop for water. Reject any bill blocking the federal heat standard, and finalize, fund, and enforce it: water, shade, rest, and acclimatization, in writing.
