Restore Wabanaki Sovereignty in Maine

Repeal the 1980 Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act provisions that treat the Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, Maliseet, and Mi'kmaq nations as municipalities and block them from federal Indian law protections every other tribe in the country receives. The legislature passed full sovereignty in 2022 and the governor vetoed it; the cost has been measured in lost jobs, lost public-health funding, and lost self-government ever since.
